Andy Cody worked as a school principal for 37 years and has taught at least one class of either History or English for the past 49 years. Five years ago, Andy tried to retire. He agreed to come to the Einstein School for one last, single summer session, as a tutor, but he liked the creativity and enthusiasm of the Einstein learning environment so much that he has now been here for five years!
This year at Einstein, Andy teaches History and Geography. Andy’s enthusiasm for his subject matter is infectious; his goal is to help students realize how understanding the past helps us make sense of the current issues we face today.
Andy also oversees Einstein’s Student Council. At Einstein, this group of motivated students devotes their time and talents to projects and volunteer activities at Einstein and within the larger community. Last semester, students’ main project was a food drive, and last month they organized the Valentine’s Day Bake Sale and flower delivery. Soon, students will begin work on “Birthday in a Box” by gathering birthday party supplies for children who are in the hospital, and next quarter they will assist with the Einstein Prom. The Student Council is always open to new members, and it is a terrific way to make friends and help other people.
