All In: Something Special!
At the Dallas Children’s Theatre on May 8th, the Einstein School Players performed Something Rotten! bringing down the house with their portrayal of this brilliant, comedic send up of Shakespeare and Broadway musicals.
Brandon Schout and Connor Ballew shone as playwright brothers Nick and Nigel Bottom. Nick’s wife Bea, played by Coral Cohan, charmed the audience with her portrayal of a “modern” woman of the 1590’s. Evan Schwartz was delightful as Shakespeare, the Rockstar of his time, egged on by the entertaining Bard Boys (Logan Connors and Josh Hartman). Playing Portia, Kahlan Williams dazzled as a young woman trying to escape her controlling Mother, adeptly performed by Reise Alexander. Kam Myerson excelled as three distinct characters: Shylock, Lord Clapham, and the Lord Magistrate, while Armando Castellanos delighted the crowd as a musical soothsayer, Thomas Nostradamus.
Something Rotten! was the biggest production ever performed by the Einstein School Players. Students learned to tap dance, executed a brilliant chorus line, and performed set changes in character in front of the audience. Something Rotten! was truly something special!
