Einstein Science teacher Aprill Hesse encourages students to seek answers to difficult questions by approaching problems from unusual angles. Students are drawn to her unique way of thinking and creative style of teaching. Aprill’s classes are characterized by hands-on learning — students can often be found practicing suturing, creating complex chemical reactions, or wiring miniature houses for electricity.
Aprill has an advanced degree and served in the United States Air Force. She has received several certifications, medals, and awards. Last summer, Einstein supported Aprill on a professional development trip to NASA, where she trained to be one of a select group of educators who has permission to borrow lunar and meteorite samples collected by Apollo astronauts. At Einstein, Aprill teaches Astronomy, Aquatic Science, and Forensics.
